2. CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICER (CSO)

ESTIMATOR - WOOD FRAME
A successful candidate will be responsible for estimating and budgeting for various high-level residential and commercial projects;
Search, analyze and communicate to the team options for the most effective means and methods of construction;
Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner;
Review and analyze design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality or availability of materials;
Prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid;
Establish construction schedules and lead times, coordinate, update and modify project schedules.
Mandatory 3-5 years of proven estimating experience preferably with wood-frame residential projects;
Civil engineering degree, BCIT Building Technology, or related education recommended;
Experience with estimating software (On Screen Takeoff or similar), spreadsheet design (MS Excel), ability to read and understand construction drawings;
Strong communication (written, oral, interpersonal), negotiation and organizational skills;
Experience working in the Greater Vancouver market is a preferred;
Experience with LEED building requirements is desirable but not necessary;
Methodical, accurate and high attention to detail;
Excellent communication, organization, time management, presentation and interpersonal skills;
Must display a strong work ethic and an interest in multi-family residential development;
Exceptional problem solving and decision-making abilities;
Ability to read CAD files and fluency in MS Project are an asset;
Has high level of personal and professional integrity;
Valid BC driver’s license;
Open and approachable team player with a positive attitude.
CONSTRUCTION SAFETY OFFICE (cso)
Support the Superintendent on-site throughout construction;
Regularly monitor health, safety and environment compliance of workers and sub-contractors;
Conduct site specific health, safety and environment orientations for all new site workers and visitors;
Prepare site safety plans, conduct hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments, as required;
Ensure that all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties;
Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implement corrective action as required;
Conduct health, safety and environment meetings;
Maintain and prepare thorough documentation and reports;
Keep management updated on issues that arise;
Assist with labour duties and site maintenance;
Administer First Aid as necessary;
Perform other duties as assigned.
3-5 years’ experience within a Construction Safety role;
Current certificates – Construction Safety Officer or NCSO and OFA 2 or 3;
Good knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards;
Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure that health, safety and environment standards are being met on site;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to influence others, in matters of health, safety and environment;
Must have effective verbal and written communicate skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs as may be necessary in the performance of CSO duties;
Demonstrated ability to keep detailed and accurate health, safety and environment records;
Can lift up to 50 lbs and perform other physically demanding duties;
Must have a valid driver’s license and able to work in various municipalities.
